People with Disabilities to March and Rally in Support of Americans with Disabilities Act
WHAT: National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) members will march and rally in Washington, D.C Wednesday July 21st from 9:30am - 12:30pm to draw attention to the 20th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and to focus on the problems that still must be addressed, to finally bring full social, economic, and political equality to people with disabilities.
WHEN: Wednesday, July 21st, from 9:30am to 12:30pm
WHERE: March begins at Grand Hyatt, 1000 H St., NW,(9:30am) proceeds to the rally site at reflecting pool on Maryland Avenue in front of the Capitol(11:15am).
HOW: NCIL members, who include many with disabilities in wheelchairs, will march on the Washington Mall, to a rally where they'll be addressed by prominent legislators and disability rights advocates.
WHY: To draw attention to the 20th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and to focus on the problems that must be addressed to bring ful social, economic, and political equality to people with disabilities.
